baby sophie has arrived

at long last miss sophie evelyn has arrived. baby number four (and definitely the last!) from my best friend jen. she is the cutest little thing and definitely cut from the same mould as her sisters. newborn perfection in all its glory.

miss madeline and i went for a visit at the hospital today for some cuddles, madeline is sooo good with babies and is still asking for another baby. i don't know if it's going to happen, but i wouldn't be sad... she has been such a wonderful help with alex and she just loves having a baby to love.

i mean seriously, someone get that girl a baby!

we are so happy she is here and can't wait to love on her as the days go by. ❤

sherbert for jen's birthday

it's besties birthday today and seeing as she was in perth for an appointment, we met up at sherbert in maylands for a cupcake. alex checked us in 14 times much to the amusement of the staff.

covid has reared it's ugly head here in wa and we were under mask restrictions, but still had a good time. i'm so lucky to have a friend like jen. 29 years of friendship and counting!

(edited to add: we were super lucky too as we just managed to make it through, before a 4 day lockdown was introduced starting the next day. yikes)

baby macqueen number three maternity shoot

can we just take a few minutes here to appreciate this baby bump and how incredibly photogenic my best friend is?

jen is due to have her third baby soon (she's currently 37 weeks along) and her bump is so so adorable so taking photos of her all glammed up made for a wonderful afternoon.

we went to lilac hill park on west swan road in guildford (where we did mine too) and got some great shots under the bridge and by the rivers edge. i am obsessed with this one above, she just looks amazing!

mat and his "babies"

this little boy was being a little difficult but lost it laughing after a while making for some great shots.

cutest little family out - about to get a little bit bigger next week... i am sure these two will wreak havoc, but i know they will make excellent big siblings.

mat and his little girl

i love this one too, mat can be such a pain when we take photos (like any guy can...) but even though he was messing about, this came out perfectly.

and so did this. this is perfect!

obsesssssed. this is soooo cute!

i love all of them so much, it was hard to pick which ones to edit, but we got there - and hopefully she is happy with them!

plus, there are some brilliant outtakes! this family are classic. love them all so much!

and i can't wait to meet baby macqueen!

thank you cookies

if you didn't already know (and seriously, if you've ever checked out my blog and haven't noticed then you must be living under a rock...) my best friend is extremely clever with pretty much everything she does. i've not had to bake a birthday cake yet for either of my kids (and just for the record, it's not because i am incapable, it's because she is much more capable than me and offers to do them!) and after specialising in cupcakes for a while, she's now making custom cookies... which are amazing! totally shameless plug, she's baked on benrua on facebook and instagram, go check her out!

i really wanted to send something to the amazing midwives and doctors that looked after us at the hospital so i made an order through her for some cookies. aren't they gorgeous?! we dropped them at the hospital this morning along with some thank you cards, my first unaccompanied expedition with joseph and baby while madeline was at school and i survived! go me! hopefully they are appreciated, cause i already know they are going to be delicious!

jen macqueen, you've done it again. ♥

**just for the record, i may have survived, but it wasn't without a call to doug and massive hysteria and almost crying... i very carefully put the parking ticket in my pocket, paid for my parking on the way out and somehow lost my ticket between the machine and the car. i spent the next 5 minutes looking for it to no avail, and in the end had to call the hospital and ask what to do! a call to the hospital security via the help! button on the carpark exit, with a very teary voice saw me out of there within seconds as they opened the boom gate remotely for me. oh my word. so much drama.**

**and a little but more, a week passed and we finally found the ticket, under my seat, it must have flown off when i shut the door on the other side to go around. ugh. what a first outing that was. thankfully i am still alive...**

another maternity shoot for jen

okay i confess... i am currently suffering from a rather bad case of bump envy, because i spent the day taking photos of my bestie who is only 3 weeks away from her due date with baby number two. she is positively glowing (although like every pregnant woman, i am sure she just wants that baby out!) which made it easy as pie to get some great shots ♥

we headed to the railway line that runs below the road by my mum and dads house with an old bentwood chair from their table and started snapping away... (for your information, clackline is named as such for the railway line that used to run through the town)

seriously how stunning does she look?

that is one gorgeous belly!

we even managed to get the boys in for some shots that were cute... which is a miracle in itself, not going to lie, boys are a pain haha

the macqueen family is about to grow by one... and i couldn't be more excited for them!

5 years of mat and jen

can hardly believe it's been 5 years today since i was the maid of honour at the wedding of these two adorable people. time flies when you're having fun (and building a house and buying a block and having a baby...) i love you two crazy kids and look forward to the next five. xxx

jen's baby shower

my bestie is having a baby!! yes that's right, i am going to be an "aunty" in 6 short weeks. wahoo! how exciting for me. today jen and mat had their unisex baby shower, affectionately referred to as a "babyq" perfect!

mat's friend felix was on hand and maybe slightly unwillingly assisted me with my decorating... especially the hanging of the teacups from the veranda rafters... quite conveniently he didn't even require a ladder... didn't take us long at all.

we were rather proud of ourselves, decorating away, still fulfilling our bestman and maid of honour duties, 5 years later. til death do we part and all that haha.

i was loving the water fountain... put to good use yet again. i have definitely gotten my $19 worth.

jen is having a turn with my bassinet, which my brothers and i all slept in, then madeline and joseph slept in... i am so glad to see it being used once again... and it made an awesomely cute place to pop all the gifts.

and of course because we couldn't (or should i say wouldn't) play games - we had a book for advice to jen and mat. i persish to think about what is written in there haha.

the kids had a great time, with lots of room to run around and mat's nieces and nephew to play with... it was just a great casual setting - and i think everyone really enjoyed themselves.

and of course, mat was in fine form... working his magic at the bbq. some things will never change.

there was enough food for an army... or lots of hungry people... and it was enjoyed by all

jen and her mum amanda ♥

not long to go now, jen is still looking good and happy!

parents to be, looking thrilled i see.

and i love this shot. i am so excited and can hardly wait! yay! a baby is on it's way!

happy birthday jen

today was my best friend jen's birthday. jen and i have known each other since primary school, been best friends since high school and know each other like the back of our hands. (side note, i have always thought it was so random that people say that - do people really know the backs of their hands that well?? i am fairly certain i couldn't describe mine to someone...) she is the friend that i laugh with, cry with, laugh until i cry with... the girl that knows all my secrets and who i share all my inappropriate jokes in every situation with. she is the best of all best friends, and i am so glad she's mine.

mat, her husband, called us and asked us to come up to the farm for the day and have a bbq... there was no mention of a fire, but being that the invite came from mat, it's winter and we were going to the farm, i should have assumed... cause there was one. of course.

maddie of course thought it was christmas and her birthday all at once as she ran about the place unsupervised (really, there's not much she could do to hurt herself) looking at everything and chatting to everyone. she even came into the sheep paddock and had a look at them, but definitely wasn't game enough to pat them, even though mummy was. she was safely perched behind my leg, hanging on for dear life. we also looked at the emu, who was up the back of the paddock, so she felt safe enough to point him out me and yell things to him. funny kid.

and of course, we had to have a go on uncle mat's ride on esky. she loves that thing and would ride it all day if we would let her. mat has to keep turning it off and shooing her away when she got too close. she certainly loved mummy being brave enough to take her for a spin though.

and our little boy was more than happy to chill with dad and be comfortable and warm in his puffy vest, sleeping on and off for most of the day. i love how happy to warm makes the kids. it's a lovely reminder of my childhood and the time i got to spend running about, playing in the dirt and generally making mischief. i am so glad that my best friend and parents live in lovely clackline and have given my children the opportunity to do the same.
