alex's nautical room

alex's room has been set up with some adorable things over time, and mum has added to them, with these adorable boat prints, which are actually quilted and stuck into the frames. they match the baby quilt she made for him and i loooove them! she is honestly so clever.

i mean seriously. i would never have thought to make something like that and she just blows me away time and time again.

he has all kinds of nautical things in his room and so they match perfectly with his pirates and little boat shelf and this adorable ocean style map sheet and pillowcase that i picked up at the opshop this week.

perfection! ❤

alexander james: thirteen months

this is getting ridiculous! he just keeps growing!
baby alexander was 13 months old yesterday and during the last month:

-he has entertained everyone we meet to no end with his "spider crawling" (walking on his hands and feet, instead of going onto his knees)
-you had your one year old immunisations and barely protested. one and two barely got a rise out of you, it wasn't until the third one that you started to yell at the nurse.
-you got sick again with the most awwwwwful cough. we just can't win. another dose of antibiotics was the doctors orders
-a new word! bear! (pronounced beer at this stage hahah) he said it one morning over and over with a bear of madeline's in hand
-when madeline left the room one day he kept yelling for her maa-ee! maa-eeee!
-another one of your teeth has popped through
-you are now mostly waving on command when we say hi and bye
-if the front door or garage door is open, he tries to escape. he will race and try and get out
-he has started to stand up! just days before he was 13 months old, a few times on the first day but more and more as time went on

baby alexander, you are so loved!

alex is eleven months!

what the heck is going on? how is time going so fast? this time next month i will have a one year old and i don't think i am okay with that!

this month alex has:
-crawled around gotten into absolutely everything
-pulled out all the dvds over and over and over
-been kicked out of his capsule and into a rear facing seat so that aunty jenny's new baby millie can have his capsule
-put anything and everything into his mouth
-pulled out the cereal at any possible opportunity and when it's the froot loops tips throws the box onto the ground and tries to eat them off the floor like i don't feed him
-walked along on his hands and feet rather than crawling, kind of like he doesn't like to use his knees... it's so funny!
-for the last month or two he has been threading his necklace over his thumb when he sucks it. he just likes to have it there to feel. it's super cute, but very annoying when he tries to do it with my necklace and almost chokes me!

baby alex, you are so, so loved! ♥

baby alexanders bedroom

i have finally moved all the rubbish (well not rubbish but all the things that have homes that weren't in their homes) out of alexander's room and now it looks like a baby's room! poor child. it wasn't undone, but it wasn't done... but now it is. dad came and worked his magic a couple of weeks ago and put up a picture rail for me to put some of his cute things up on display.

my mother kindly painted me these drawers i found on gumtree whilst pregnant (and by kindly, i mean she rolled her eyes and said jaaaaaade, why did you buy those? they have broken bits and dad is going to complain about having to fix them and do you know what a pain it is to paint things white?) and they look amazing! so happy, she's the best. huge props to dad for doing the fixing too.

then, whilst opping in northam last month, i found these gorgeous prints which i just knew would be perfect for his room. i am loving his little space. congrats baby alex, you've finally got your own room... almost a year later!

10 months old

baby alex continues to grow at an alarming pace... how is he possibly 10 months old already?!

this past month he:
-started clapping his hands
-is constantly moving in time to music
-his new favourite word is jim/dim (differs slightly, doug keeps asking me who jim is hahaha)
-says hiiiiii
-he is fiiiinally waving goodbye to people
-zoomed a car back and forward on the ground
-covers his eyes when people play peekaboo with him
-had another trip to the emergency department, this time for a possible concussion... jeepers! turned out he was okay and just had a vomiting bug. too much!

baby alex you continue to amaze us with everything you do, every single day. you are truly so loved!

a broken arm

let's play a little game of "guess which one of my children broke their arm today."

if you guessed joseph, there is no prize, you would of course be correct. doug and i left the kids at his parents house this morning while we attended a wedding (yes, another one!) and came home to joseph crying and lying very still on the lunge, unable to lift his left arm. he and madeline had been playing on the trampoline and at some stage she pushed him and off he went, backwards, landing on his arm. he kept complaining of pain, and wouldn't wiggle his fingers, so after a few minutes i decided a trip to the local emergency department might be in order.

after a reasonable (but not unbearable) wait, we finally saw the nurse, had x-rays... and sure enough, mum intuition was right and it was indeed broken. because of where it is broken, it is difficult to cast (and probably not worth doing) so he is now in a spongy sling with his arm held at a 90 degree angle until it is healed.

sigh. boys will be boys. thank goodness it wasn't anything worse! fingers crossed it doesn't take too long to heal!

gender reveal cake

this weekend i was trusted with the most wonderful (and fun!) secret. my dear friend alexandra sent me a message on friday afternoon asking if i could make her a gender reveal cake. they had been to their ultrasound appointment not long before and had asked the technician to write down what they are having and seal it in an envelope so they had absolutely no idea! she and her husband are currently cooking their third child and wanted to surprise their families (and themselves!) at family dinner this afternoon.

oh my word. i can honestly say that i have never been this excited in my life to make a cake!!! alex rushed over with the envelope containing the news, which i carefully waited to open until after they had left. oh the pressure! i didn't want my facial expression to give anything away.

i made a four layer cake with coloured cakes, hollowed in the middle two layers to add coloured m&ms... then covered the entire thing with buttercream and multicoloured sprinkles. so fun! the worst bit was delivering the cake last night to alex's husband michael and being interrogated, then getting the same from her brother at church this afternoon. haha. but i did not crack and was thrilled to pieces when i received these pictures not long after...

cause it's a boy! what a wonderful surprise, adding to the two girls they already have. i am so thrilled for them and still can't believe i got to be the secret keeper, what an awesome job!

the girls thrilled to pieces to know that they are getting themselves a baby brother... or are they just excited to be getting cake? i can't tell!

the inside before i added the top. so fun! i seriously wish i could have watched them cut it open!

congrats mike and alex, that's one lucky little boy headed your way!

18 months old ♥

it's happened again! baby joseph is another month old, and it is now a year and a half since this little one joined the kendall crew. your favourite song is "if your happy and you know it" and if you hear someone in the house singing it, you immediately begin to clap your hands along to the tune and smile that huge smile of yours. you love all the nursery rhymes you hear and always want your mummy and daddy to put on the 'mother goose club' (a channel with a group of children singing nursery rhymes and childrens song) and you would watch it and dance along all day long if we would let you. you love to dance along to music and your newest move is to stand still and stomp with one leg and use the other to dance in a circle. adorable.

you love to (sometimes!) play quietly in your room and read your books and occasionally i'll find you in there quite content and playing all alone. you've learnt what it is to be quiet and if we tell you to shoosh, you'll place your finger at your lips and make the shooooooosh noise.

your last two teeth (for a while i hope!) have popped through just this week, completing your little set of 16 baby teeth. you have the sweetest toothy little grin and those dimples! to die for. you're still having troubles with your teeth though and you've become very clingy again... to the point that when i try and take you to nursery at church you cry and cry and sob until i have to come back and get you. sigh. attached to mama much?

you love your morning fruit and vegetable juice with mama, so much so, that sometimes when you finish the cup (seriously, he downs those in 20 seconds sometimes!) you'll come running back into the kitchen waving your cup and pointing it at me, waiting for a refill,

you've finally given up breastfeeding, we got down to one feed a day and then finally none, amazingly enough, it was exactly the same time wise that your big sister gave up. how funny!

you still don't talk too much, just a few words and not often.., we spoke to the child health nurse about it today and i mentioned that you understand everything we say, point at what you want and really make yourself known... thankfully she gave me the answer i had hoped for, that she also thinks there isn't anything wrong and you'll speak when you're ready, most probably when your chatterbox sister isn't there to say everything for you! haha.

we adore you! you are sweet and cuddly and just our little joseph! ♥

seventeen months ♥

another month has raced by and now he's another one older! :( where is my sweet little baby going?

he is obsessed with switching power points on and off, slyly looking at us while he does so... on off on off on off on off... he also loves the tv remote, turning the tv on, changing the channel, turning the volume up load

he's also taken up crawl around the floor with your nose down like a sniffer dog... it is hilarious to watch and makes me laugh so hard.

he loves toy cars and zooming them along the ground, swinging in your swing for hours on end and chocolate! he can't get enough of it in his little face and always point at wherever you have seen it come from and make a lot of noise in the hopes that mummy will give in and let you have more.

he stood at the side of your bath and said "up up up up up!" over and over until i put him in, so excited to get in and splash about. there are two teeth poking through in his bottom jaw, ready to complete your set of baby teeth. ouch!

he are still trying very hard to talk and making lots of noise, but certainly getting his point across.

as adorable as always!

we have a 16 month old!

this boy is the funniest! 90% of the time he is happy and laughing and trotting around the house making mischief. he runs quickly on the spot sometimes when he is excited, a few quick steps and then rushes off again, funny little thing.

he has so many troubles with his teeth though, such a change from madeline, hers just came through without any problems, where this baby is always grizzling and grabbing at his gums when one arrives which seems to be every second week. boo. he has 14 teeth now! someone call the dental police!

he has started to do what we call baby yoga, when he leans forward and put his hands then head on the ground and makes a triangle shape, all the while giggling and looking side to side to make sure we are watching. he and maddie are always together, up to something...

nothing has made me laugh harder than this though. joseph has worked out where we keep bowls in the cupboard and obviously associated them with food, so when he is hungry, he trots into the kitchen, helps himself to a bowl, then comes and hit me in the leg with it. as if to say, "what are you doing woman! get me some food!" it is the funniest thing!

he is still not saying much, i guess it's hard to get a word in edgewise with madeline around, but he has started to say up!

we love him!

a maternity shoot for jen

today i had the absolute pleasure of taking maternity shots for my best friend jen. she is 37 weeks + 4 days pregnant and nearly ready to pop! i am so excited to meet her little man and am so thrilled that she trusted me enough to do the shots for her. it was a beautiful day, not a cloud in the sky and i think they turned out great!

just in case they don't have a name picked yet... haha

jen is always gorgeous, but she has honestly never looked more beautiful than she does right now...

and mat that hates having his photo taken was very behaved... it was a maternity shoot miracle!

i love you guys and i am so excited...

see you soon little one!

14 months of goodness

another month, another shot of this delicious boy on the couch. it's now been 14 months since he joined our clan - and i can barely remember life before he came! he is growing so, so quickly and progressing like mad! as you know from my little video, he is off and walked, was a little hesitant and just took a few steps at a time, but within a week was trotting around all over the place - and now is a little speedster.

while we were away in tasmania, he spent the day with mums friend annette and was apparently an angel. they went for a walk and saw some of the neighbours animals and decided to say dog (doh doh!) and has also finally said dad!

he claps his hands to music and babbles away to us, although he doesn't use many recognisable words, he certainly is trying to tell us something!

he also got another tooth, a big one, which took a very long time and made him quite unhappy. that brings us to 9 now! teething certainly is not his forte, which is a not so happy change from madeline, she seemed to not have any issues at all as her teeth arrived.

he loves tank and buddy from dinosaur train and always selects them from his toy line-up in his room. it's so fun to see his eyes light up when he sees something he likes, it makes me so happy when he is happy too!

i can hardly believe it when i look at him, but he is a real little boy! no baby here anymore. :(

laura's baby shower

our sweet friend laura had her baby shower today... and my word did we have a good time! she's such a crack up and i was so thrilled to be invited to take part in the shenanigans. my friend pippa had a large part in the preparations which guaranteed good games and a lot of laughs.

there were three awesome games that we played which i have filed away for future reference...
1. "make a baby" each of us was given a chunk of playdough and 60 seconds to mould it into a baby shape. rather hilarious results...
2. name that 'stache: 15 famous moustaches enlarged and on a board - for us to guess who was who
and...
3. the pooey nappy game: a stack of disposable nappies with a different mushed up chocolate bar in each one. watching all the girls sniff (and even sneakily have a taste of) the contents was hysterical... even funnier as poor laura had specified that the only game she really didn't want was that one. i've never laughed so hard.

pippa made this amazing cake, which i think i probably could have eaten half of, if i'd made the effort... haha. it was a double layer of banana with white chocolate chunks and walnuts... with cream cheese icing. yummm.

and she had even set up a mini impromptu photo booth near the front door, fun times!

i loved watching laura open her baby gifts... especially this picture. she looks like someone has stashed some lollies or the likes in the bottom of the bag. haha.

was a great afternoon and i cannot wait to meet baby t!
