school photos 2017

i cannot believe how grown up my little girl is. we got her school photos back last week and here she is looking much older than i'd like her to... this mum thing is hard when they insist on growing up! ♥

a broken arm

let's play a little game of "guess which one of my children broke their arm today."

if you guessed joseph, there is no prize, you would of course be correct. doug and i left the kids at his parents house this morning while we attended a wedding (yes, another one!) and came home to joseph crying and lying very still on the lunge, unable to lift his left arm. he and madeline had been playing on the trampoline and at some stage she pushed him and off he went, backwards, landing on his arm. he kept complaining of pain, and wouldn't wiggle his fingers, so after a few minutes i decided a trip to the local emergency department might be in order.

after a reasonable (but not unbearable) wait, we finally saw the nurse, had x-rays... and sure enough, mum intuition was right and it was indeed broken. because of where it is broken, it is difficult to cast (and probably not worth doing) so he is now in a spongy sling with his arm held at a 90 degree angle until it is healed.

sigh. boys will be boys. thank goodness it wasn't anything worse! fingers crossed it doesn't take too long to heal!

10kg down

so... this gluten free and dairy free thing seems to be working for me... i finally cracked the 10kg mark today! hooray! when i can actually see the numbers on the scales dropping and i am feeling better for it, it makes it so much easier to hang in there and stick to it.

just for the record:
start date: 26/07 start weight 93kg
current date: 18/10 current weight 83kg

my first goal was simply to lose 10kg
next goal, make it to 80kg
third goal, down to 75kg

i know it's doable... and i'll get there. i might even introduce exercise at some point... at this stage it's been completely diet.

hooray for reaching goals!

chicken and zucchini poppers

when trying to find gf and df options for emilys bridal shower recently, i did a lot of internet searching in the hopes i would find something delicious, but in both those categories.

i came across the recipe for chicken and zucchini poppers here (via pinterest) and can i just say, they were amazing! so much flavour and pretty easy to make. i have already made them again since and they are totally on the make over and over list. i think i can say fairly safely that they were a big hit as the whole lot of them were gone in no time at all!

please trust me and go and make them asap.

obviously cook them prior to eating, but yum!

the glass menagerie

this evening i had the absolute joy of watching my eldest niece laura in the role of laura (perfect much?) in the play "the glass menagerie" at a the garrick theatre in guildford. i am so proud to be her aunt, she has grown into a beautiful woman, talented and kind. she was absolutely amazing in the role and has received wonderful reviews. i can't wait to see where she goes in life, she truly is one to watch.

aunty love. so blessed to have you laura!

general conference oct 2017

i love modern technology. being able to watch conference in the comfort of your own home is the most amazing thing ever and i am so grateful for it! having driven home from dunsborough after the pinker wedding and not making it in until 1am, i was especially to be able to watch from home this time around. i watched the sunday morning session with the kids and loved president eyrings talk so much...

"The best days are ahead for the kingdom of God on the earth. Opposition will strengthen our faith in Jesus Christ, as it has since the days of the Prophet Joseph Smith. Faith always defeats fear. Standing together produces unity. And your prayers for those in need are heard and answered by a loving God. He neither slumbers nor does He sleep."

what a blessing it is to hear the words of the lord during conference. i can't wait to listen to the rest! ♥

(i also came across this awesome page online that had one great quote from each of the talks from octobers conference. have a look here if you'd like conference in a nutshell)

forever pinker ♥

yesterday we celebrated theron and emily all over again down in beautiful dunsborough, 3 and a bit hours south of perth. it was the most amazing location and everything was just perfect!

madeline was the flower girl and looked so so cute!

and joseph although a little unwilling, once bribed with multiple toy cars was more than happy to hold his sisters hand and walk down the aisle, then deliver the rings when requested. parenting win right there!

my boys ♥

much concentration required...

i was so proud, they stood perfectly still and waited patiently for the ceremony to be over

everything was so lovely, emily's sister sang as they walked down the aisle, there were readings from family members and just so much love around us

you know how i said he was good? the little boy in him was raging 5 minutes later and out he went to rip half a dozen lillies out of the ground haha.

then back to being an angel ♥

and for once, a nice photo of doug and i. it's so unusual that i think i'll be printing multiple copies and displaying it!

and at the end of the night, my little darling still keeping the party going. what a perfect day!

congratulations t & e!
your forever has just begun ♥
