lord goodlet

dad had his 70th birthday a little over a week ago and after a bit of consult back and forward with my brothers, we bought him a lord title through established titles. for a price you can purchase a piece of land, 5ft x 5ft which comes with a lord or lady title depending on the recipient. dad's dad was born in glasgow, scotland so the scottish blood runs strong in his veins. he was so beyond thrilled when he opened it and you couldn't wipe the smile off his face.

and now we get to enjoy it long term as he signs of every message and email with sincerely yours, lord goodlet of clackline.

my sister in law donna made a big fanfare of presenting him with a hat and sash after he opened it and he was loving it.

lord goodlet of clackline, we love you so much!

fathers day 2020

i am so, so thankful for the fathers in my life. i am grateful for the fathers that raised my mother and father. i am grateful for the amazing father i have. he was always 100% present, always there for me and the most amazing man i know. finding someone to love for the rest of my life was pretty damn hard when comparing him to my dad. there is still nothing he wouldn't do for me and although he rolls his eyes at all my requests, mum assures me they are done with love.

this is the first fathers day without my father in law and i would be completely amiss if i didn't mention him or the hole he has left in our lives. we still miss him every single day. he made my doug who he is. he is completely and utterly his dad... personality, laugh, sense of humour - and i love that he is still around us, living on through doug.

he is such a good dad. he riots with the kids, makes them laugh non stop and infuriates me with the bad jokes he tells them and the mischief he helps them get up to.

happy fathers day to all the fathers around me, but most of all the to the father of my children... the most important one in my little family. ❤

fathers day 2019

couldn't let father's day go by without recognising this deadset legend. you've made my life absolute bliss. even though every single time i used the phone as a teenager you were "expecting an important call from peru/turkey/italy" (take your pick haha) and you pretend to be disgusted by my sense of humour that i inherited straight from you... i'd still choose you every single time. love you so much!

and...
doug, your personality was made for being a dad (unless they argue back). you're full of epic one liners that they quote for months afterwards and make them laugh all the time with your knock knock jokes... but watching you with your dad is the best, cause i know for sure that you learned it allllll from him. love you both so much, i'm so lucky to have you, together. ♥

a day for dads

it's fathers day! so here is a photo of my dad. he is amazing and no matter if i typed 16 pages worth of text, i couldn't tell you half the reasons why, so just know he is great.

this guy is pretty great too! every six years his birthday falls on father's day and today was that one in six. he assisted me in making these kids and is a great dad to them both. i love hearing them laugh uncontrollably because he is being silly about something... it's the best.

we love you doug. happy fathers birthday to you! ♥

a day for dads ❤️

this guy i married ten and a bit years ago... the dad to my kids, is pretty freaking awesome and i want to tell you all about that today. the kids love him so so much and when he is playing with them, or even just talking to them, all i can hear is squeals of laughter and utter delight. i certainly picked a good dad for them,

we bought doug a top from each of the kids and they were presented to him by these two, madeline wearing his and joseph carrying his along (little kid is so stubborn!!) it was so cute to watch them handing them over.

madeline made doug this yummy bow tie in primary yesterday...

and today doug arrived home from her fathers day morning at the kindy this morning with this adorable card and keyring that they had made for the dads. so so cute!

we love you daddy! ♥

my dad ❤️

if you've not had the pleasure of meeting my father, i hope that one day you do. he is an absolute gem. he always knows exactly the right thing to say at the right time and is loved by everyone who knows him. i loved him as a child and love him even more as an adult, now that we can have twice as much fun with bad jokes and terrorising the rest of our family.

we drive mum crazy with our obsession of pulling terrible faces non stop while we are face timing... and i love that he is always keen to take ugly selfies with me too. i just love him, everything about him - and i am so glad he is mine and that my children get to enjoy him as much as i did (and still do)

us four children have always loved to attack dad at every possibility and today on fathers day... doug gleefully took aarons place while i got my camera out to make sure we could remember yet another crazy day in the goodlet house, with dad, the original man of the house - right at the centre.

i am proud to say that this little one is definitely a goodlet... car mad and intently reading the street machine mag he found on the coffee table at jareds. hilarious.

clackline day trip

it was my dad's birthday yesterday so i took the kids up to visit for the day... i always love going to clackline, there's just something about going home. madeline loves the same things i loved when i was a kid... running around the verandahs, looking at everything and "driving" up the gravel roads. (on someone's lap of course).  i'm so glad that my children have the chance to be country kids, even though we aren't living there.

i especially love the old lion monument... watching her climb up and down it all by herself is adorable... in her ninja turtle shirt that my mum bought for her.

(side note, this girls is obsessed with the ninja turtles. she has a baby doll that she has named raphael the ninja turtle. not just raphael, you have to say raphael the ninja turtle, that she takes everywhere. to the shops, to church, to bed... it is the funniest! i love hearing her introduce him to people. this is my baby her name is raphael, raphael the ninja turtle.hahahaha)

joseph also had a hair cut while we were visiting nanna... he has been okay every other time, but this time he was completely unimpressed and screamed his face off the entire time mum was trying to cut. in the end she gave up, and he has a few pieces that are messy and all over the place, it looks a little like he went a few rounds with a lawn mower above his right ear.

poor love, i am just hoping he is not traumatised for life... otherwise we are going to not be enjoying ourselves during future hair cuts. i couldn't resist sharing this photo though, although he is so upset, he looks so darn cute!

fathers day love

happy fathers day to my daddy. to the man who i have loved from day one, who has wiped away my tears, played endless games with me, told me tin tin stories, told bad dad jokes, but truly been the very best person i know.

my dad is a true example of service. from a young age i can always remember him rushing off to help someone in need, whether it was fixing their car, being a handyman or just being a helping hand or shoulder to cry on. he is a truly wonderful man to know and i am so proud to not only be his daughter but to call him my friend.

i love to watch him with my children too. to hear him get frustrated with madeline pushing the limits the same way i did. to know how madly he loves them and to know that they have him wrapped around their little fingers. we are so blessed to have him in our lives.

but most of all, last but certainly not least... to see the way he loves my mother. it is the absolute truth that "the greatest gift a father can give his children is to love their mother" i have witnessed nothing but the purest love between my parents and i know that my father loves my mother more than anything in this world.

thank you dad. we adore you.

i've also been lucky to have a wonderful father in my own home. to watch my babies laugh with my husband brings the greatest joy to my heart. how sweet a home is, where laughter lives.

so thank you to the father of my children.

we love you!

kendall boys

this photo makes me so so happy. steve is so thrilled with having a grandson and it's evident when you watch them together. joseph looks pretty pleased too, as you can tell from this picture. what a precious memory we managed to capture here (thank goodness for iphones and their instant camera open function) of granddad and grandson.

it is so hard every time we leave. we love to spend time with them and wish we could stay longer. alas the real world calls and the day after tomorrow we will be off to perth again. but in the mean time we'll enjoy all the cuddles we can!

three generations of awesome ♥

father's day... in samoa

it's fathers day and i've just arrived in samoa! what better gift could i have possibly given my dad than arriving on father day? haha. i am more pleased than i could ever write about to see him. i've missed him and my mum so.

i've spent ages looking at this picture and have realised it's the first time i've ever thought dad and i have looked alike. i don't know if it is because dad has always had a giant moustache hiding half his face, or whether i've just never looked for it before... but we look so similar here!

i love my dad. he has never, ever let me down. he has always told me how beautiful i am. he has always defended me and looked out for me. he used to buy me a bouquet of flowers for my birthday as a teenager, just because he could. he used to slip me money when i was deliberately staying home in order to pay off my small debt when i returned from my year in brazil as an exchange student. ("you're 18 years old, you don't need to be sitting home on a friday night.") his lap was the safest place in the world when i was a child. he told the best (and most outrageous) bedtime stories.

but most importantly. he made me feel important. he made sure i knew that i mattered, and... he loved my mother so well, that i knew being a woman was something the right man would treasure for eternity.

he's incredible.
and he's my dad.

happy bday daddy!

yesterday was my daddy's birthday. another year older, and more full of wisecracks... the man that has been the rock of my life and called me possum and possumface since i was a little girl. i can to this day barely contain my laughter when i think of him singing away to me:
possum face she was no good,
so they chopped her up for firewood
because she was no good for that...
they gave her to the old tomcat

it's always so hard to think of something to buy for the man that has everything... but this year i had a brainwave - he & mum are going away this week and i made them a hamper for a picnic. maybe i'll consider that kind of thing more often... it was heaps more fun picking yummy stuff than a boring "dad" present haha. andddd - just for good measure? some electrical tape. only our family would understand.

love you so much daddy! happy birthday ♥ x

hot laps!

for dad's 60th birthday, us four kids went in together to buy him some hot laps at barbagallo raceway in a v8 supercar. i have to admit, he did look a little horrified, but excited at the prospect. so the day finally arrived almost a year later that he was booked in and ready to go... and off he went.

isn't he cute!?

upon hearing of his adventure, my first question was, of course, how fast did you go? his answer was 145km/ph. hilarious. i've gone faster than that on the freeway. oops. that is a long straight though, and the raceway doesn't really allow for that kind of thing, unless of course you are a professional. ehrm, not yet.

dad in action!

dia dos pais

this little girl worships her daddy. her first word was dad dad dadddd, and she's been calling it out ever since... seeing them together makes me so happy and i just love this picture of them together! she cuddled up to daddy this morning at my parents house and gave her daddy his presents and a multitude of kisses and cuddles... sweet little munchkin...

and i swear that all they did then was spend the day sleeping! i caught them napping at church and then again in the afternoon on the couch. so so sweet.

i am so grateful that my husband is such a good daddy
and that my dad is such a good dad to me! x

first swim

on saturday madeline had her first swim - in kalgoorlie at uncle jared and aunty donna's house with her cousins. she was so adorable... and loved the water! she was kicking away and smiling at us both as we bobbed her around in the water. ben and jared insisted that she had to have a turn in emma's "boat" as well which was so so funny. such a sweet little girl.

maddie in emmas "boat"

mads and daddy swimming away

getting used to the water... it was lovely - not too cold!

happy 60th daddy

dad and his newest grandbaby - miss maddie

my daddy is sixty today! can you believe it!? it's a pretty big birthday - so we (as in me and my three big brothers) went pieces to buy dad some experiences instead of gifts from red balloon. we are pretty excited about what we got him - being 1) two hot laps in a v8 supercar and 2) a romantic sunset cruise on a luxury catamaran for 2 leaving from the fremantle fishing boat harbour. the first because if turning 60 wasn't enough to give him a heart attack - we thought we would find something that could - and the second, because he and mum grew up in freo, met in freo, got married in freo, had us kids in freo... and love the place - and each other, and never like to be apart - so what better experience than one you can share with the person you love the most!

happy 60th daddy! if only there was a chance we could have you for another 60 years! :)
i love you!

daddy daughter date!

dad was in perth last night -
so after i was done getting my hair done,
we went on a daddy/ daughter date!
icecream in subiaco at 10 o'clock at night?
perfect!
i love him - he is both my favourite and my best,
and always will be!
