mothers day with borders

i have been so blessed to have these two amazing mums helping me every step of the way. those of you who know my mum (let's face it, if you are reading this you probably do) will know how incredible she is. she is so talented, can make anything... she cooks, she sews and when you need anything, if she doesn't have it, she will find it. she truly is life goals and i hope that one day i'll be just like her.

a lot of you don't actually know my mother in law, but she is also amazing. she is so generous, always looks out for me and would do anything for me. sometimes she calls and says i have made dinner, come and pick it up. seriously so blessed. i am twice as lucky to have them both and absolutely treasure them. happy mother's day to the women who made me who i am.

i saw this on facebook this week leading up to mothers day and it is so true. love it so much. mum truly is the best friend i have ever had. i can tell her anything and never have to worry about it, because she listens, she understands and always does her best to help. i love you mum. ❤

this mothers day was a little different with regional borders in place... we couldn't go and visit mum! so i took advantage of some amazing local businesses in her area, owned by my best friend jennifer, who makes custom cookies at baked on benrua

and another friend chloe who runs a flower farm not far from mums house - called the grange farmhouse. they put together these amazing presents for mum and i was so stoked, it was almost as good as seeing her, knowing she was looked after.

my gifts from the kids were so cute - they bought one each from the school mothers day stall (all done online thanks to covid-19) a candle from madeline and a beaded bracelet from joseph, plus a cute keyring from each of them that they had made in class. i was quietly cracking up. madeline's had a bunch of flowers drawn on it and she had written "you smell nice." i must have cracked a smile when i saw it, she very quickly said, it's cause you wear deodorant every day! hahahah. this is from the child that spent years sniffing my worn t-shirts, so obviously she must like my smell. she also made me a coupon book and a card and joseph made me a "fill in the gaps book" about his amazing mum. super cute!

these little people test my patience on the daily but i love them madly and am so, so grateful to be their mum. ❤

little baby kendall

well, here he is! baby kendall number 3.
currently cooking at 37 degreees celcius, pictured here at 19 weeks and 4 days. we had the ultrasound tech in fits, when he told us that the baby had a well formed spine, doug said "well he's obviously not a goodlet, they are all spineless." to which i retorted with "well i don't know how he even has a heart at all if it's a kendall!"

mixed with a few jokes about calling him peralta (after jake peralta from brooklyn 99, which we love - and was cancelled that morning, but has thankfully been refunded and will be back on air) the tech said he wasn't going to forget us anytime soon. oops. at least we made him laugh though.

we are pleased to report though that everything is going well. he (yes it's a baby boy! which i know i am safe to announce on here seeing as about 4 people read my blog haha) is measuring correctly, has all his fingers and toes and is cute as a button already.

we can't wait to meet you little one!

we're having a baby!

so... for those of you who don't already know... and i know there are a lot of you, because we have barely told anyone - we are having a baby!! another baby kendall is heading our way, due october 1st! we are so excited... especially these kids, who are just beside themselves with joy. we told them just over a month ago (on mothers day) and madeline has nearly died trying to keep it to herself, whereas joseph is a little more chilled about it.

for those of you who are wondering why we've gone back for another one? well, it's simple. i could always picture myself holding another baby. when i thought about life, there was another kid in the picture - and sometimes i'd have both kids ready to go somewhere and think i need to get the other, hang on, i only have two of them! so i prayed and prayed about it, but never seemed to get an answer. but over time i realised something. i wasn't getting a no and it was a decision i needed to make. so i did and here we are with baby kendall number 3 on its way.

the two most excited kids i know, currently trying to choose a name... some of the suggestions thrown our way were justin, hunter and adrian. ummm what? okay, we'll see.

mother’s day pamper morning

i have a love/hate relationship with mother's day pamper mornings at the school. this time around was no exception. monday morning my sweet boy skipped into class with me and then...

at his instruction, i rubbed some hand cream into my own hands, seven times, painted my own nails (i was smart and brought along my own clear polish this year... sneaky!)

i had my hair brush for approximately twelve seconds...

and then helped joseph thread coloured pasta onto a piece of string that amazingly i got to keep.

i guess you'd call that a success? mum life strikes again. but no matter what, i love his little face. so so much.

mother’s day 2018

i got some lovely gifts for mother's day this year, including getting to make and eat my own breakfast in peace, because no one else woke up until almost 8am!

doug surprised me with this lovely ring and also got me a denim jacket i'd been eyeing off (i know, i know, it's new? how dare i? well, i looked unsuccessfully for weeks prior to suggesting it to him... i just could not find one in the opshop and gave up in the end. which means, of course i'll probably find one next week.) from "the kids." i love it! maddie insisted on buying me a gift when we were out shopping one day and got me the mug, which i approved so she could use my money haha.

and this little kindy monkey gave me a painting, a decorated dinner plate and a bookmark that he had made all by himself at school! So cute!

and so proud of himself, even cuter!

i love being a mum to these tiny people we made and wouldn't give it up for anything, it's the greatest job in the world.

but... mum still needs her space and i'm not going to lie... this is me most days by bedtime.

happy mother's day to all my mum friends out there!

my little pony: the movie

we checked out my little pony: the movie this afternoon with some friends. the movie was okay, the kids were not... i was about ready to resign as a mum. joseph is not doing so well being restricted in his sling (which has been upgraded to something he can't move about in and it's driving him crazy) and hence he's driving me crazy! he waltzed about the cinema here and there and decided at one point he didn't even want to watch the movie... while madeline wouldn't stay in one seat - and let's just say i didn't see a lot of the movie. it seemed nice, lots of bright colours, cute songs and... well, i guess we will be watching it on dvd on day so i can see what actually happened.

oh being a mum is hard. i am hoping one day it pays off and as they grow up i'll feel like my hard work paid off. but, here's a picture of the girls looking all sweet and innocent (while joseph flat out refused to be in it...) to make it look like we had a good time.

mother's day pamper morning

today i was pampered by my little madeline, during a mother's day pamper morning at her kindergarten. she is so blessed to have two beautiful, understanding women as her teachers who go out of their way to ensure the children (and mums!) feel special and loved.

we arrived to a sign on the gate as we enetered, wishing us all a happy mother's day

and a tea/coffee and muffin station (this mummy thought ahead and brought along a hot chocolate sachet haha) where maddie made me a drink

inside the classroom there were stations set up for our little ones to pamper us... madeline gave me a hand soak and massage

she painted my nails... (thank goodness for nail polish remover) we made a cute necklace for me to keep together (filing away the idea for future reference, patterned paper straws cut into pieces to make beads) and she gave me a three second shoulder massage. looks like her attention span is as long as mine hahah. (there was a hair styling and foot spa station too) it was just the cutest thing and i felt so loved!

and as we left, we each got some handmade bath bombs. this anti bath mama may just have to try them out because they look really cute. all of our childrens artwork was displayed by the door, thank goodness she said something nice about me!

this mum gig can be pretty tough. but it's days like this that make it all worth while.

i love you miss maddie. thanks for making me a mummy! ♥

what time is it...?

i honestly wonder how long it will be before i stop caring what time it is... i constantly feel like i need to be somewhere, like i'm late for work, like i need to be doing something... it's making me a little crazy!!

i am well aware that i am doing the most important job in the world, that looking after baby madeline is my job now - but i am still waiting for it to sink in...
