mothers day with borders

i have been so blessed to have these two amazing mums helping me every step of the way. those of you who know my mum (let's face it, if you are reading this you probably do) will know how incredible she is. she is so talented, can make anything... she cooks, she sews and when you need anything, if she doesn't have it, she will find it. she truly is life goals and i hope that one day i'll be just like her. 

a lot of you don't actually know my mother in law, but she is also amazing. she is so generous, always looks out for me and would do anything for me. sometimes she calls and says i have made dinner, come and pick it up. seriously so blessed. i am twice as lucky to have them both and absolutely treasure them. happy mother's day to the women who made me who i am.

i saw this on facebook this week leading up to mothers day and it is so true. love it so much. mum truly is the best friend i have ever had. i can tell her anything and never have to worry about it, because she listens, she understands and always does her best to help. i love you mum. ❤

 

this mothers day was a little different with regional borders in place... we couldn't go and visit mum! so i took advantage of some amazing local businesses in her area, owned by my best friend jennifer, who makes custom cookies at baked on benrua

and another friend chloe who runs a flower farm not far from mums house - called the grange farmhouse. they put together these amazing presents for mum and i was so stoked, it was almost as good as seeing her, knowing she was looked after.

my gifts from the kids were so cute - they bought one each from the school mothers day stall (all done online thanks to covid-19) a candle from madeline and a beaded bracelet from joseph, plus a cute keyring from each of them that they had made in class. i was quietly cracking up. madeline's had a bunch of flowers drawn on it and she had written "you smell nice." i must have cracked a smile when i saw it, she very quickly said, it's cause you wear deodorant every day! hahahah. this is from the child that spent years sniffing my worn t-shirts, so obviously she must like my smell. she also made me a coupon book and a card and joseph made me a "fill in the gaps book" about his amazing mum. super cute!

these little people test my patience on the daily but i love them madly and am so, so grateful to be their mum. ❤

primary mothers day gifts for quarantine

we have always made sure that the mothers in our ward receive something lovely as a gift each mother's day... after all the work of a mother is never done and i know firsthand that it's blooming hard work! when i was relief society president i did the gifts 3 years in a row and now that i'm in the primary presidency, i had my eyes peeled for a cute idea for our presidency to deliver to the primary mums.

it was actually on one of the lds young women pages that i found my inspiration, they were delivering a facemask for each mother and daughter to do together, under the excuse of "masks are required during coronavirus" and i thought we could do something similar here... 

so. off to big w for 40% facemasks @ $2.37 each

pack of cello bags from the reject shop (30 for $1.50)

2 x large boxes of cadbury roses (1/2 price at woolworths) $7.75 each

and a little card in each - 10c per print at harvey norman

a facemask and a "bunch of roses" thank you once again cadbury for making it possible for us to use chocolates as a "bunch of roses" haha

they looked so cute and we had some great feedback from the mums who had theirs delivered today. hopefully they all love them! 

mother’s day 2018

i got some lovely gifts for mother's day this year, including getting to make and eat my own breakfast in peace, because no one else woke up until almost 8am!



doug surprised me with this lovely ring and also got me a denim jacket i'd been eyeing off (i know, i know, it's new? how dare i? well, i looked unsuccessfully for weeks prior to suggesting it to him... i just could not find one in the opshop and gave up in the end. which means, of course i'll probably find one next week.) from "the kids." i love it! maddie insisted on buying me a gift when we were out shopping one day and got me the mug, which i approved so she could use my money haha. 

and this little kindy monkey gave me a painting, a decorated dinner plate and a bookmark that he had made all by himself at school! So cute!

and so proud of himself, even cuter!

i love being a mum to these tiny people we made and wouldn't give it up for anything, it's the greatest job in the world.

but... mum still needs her space and i'm not going to lie... this is me most days by bedtime.

mother’s day ward gifts

mother's day calls for a treat for each of the mothers in our ward... and this year it was up to me to do them again, so i picked something i thought was awesome... in the hopes that everyone would! we have a few sisters in our ward who are strictly gluten free and a few vegans, so i chose yummy cookies (coles ultimate choc-chip cookies, side note, if you haven't tried them, you should - they are delicious!!) that had a gf option (which you can find here), and once it was cookies, it was easy to deviate a little to other cookies and have oreos as well for the vegans, as believe it or not, the plain ones are vegan by ingredient. unexpected seeing as they are the original "milk and cookies" cookie.

i found this gorgeous little printable on pinterest (thank you to whoever made and posted it online!) and printed them two to a photo print at our local big w photo shop

then bagged them into little bags ($1 for 30 from our local reject shop) and tied them off with curling ribbon

so easy... and yum! can't wait to hand them out on sunday. ♥

mother's day prep

last week i spent a few hours wrapping these chocolates ready for the primary children to hand out to all the women in our ward after our sacrament meeting this sunday. each wrap had a quote from sheri dew "motherhood is more than bearing children... it is the essence of who we are as women" along with well wishes from the ward, "to all our mums and those with mum potential" they were so simple to make, but super effective... 

i had learnt recently from a facebook group, that these chocolate bars from aldi can be covered perfectly with a 4 x 6 inch photograph, so that's what i did. my friend jen did the hardest bit, which was working out the sizing to ensure the cover sat correctly, then off to the big w photoshop i went! 

chocolates are 40g each and come in a pack of 5 for $2.99 in a variety of flavours. (we stuck to white, dark and milk to avoid allergies) photos were printed for 10c each, so each set us back just 70c! totally worth it.
