summer fun in winter

the beauty of perth, is that sometimes smack bang in the middle of winter, we get a "summer' day. today was warm enough to be outdoors in the sun and enjoy it, so we headed off to one of the local parks, (the jungle park in brabham - listed on maps as whiteman edge, it's in the middle of gloucester approach, mayfield drive and everglades avenue) alex and i chilled with his aunty niques who is here from the u.s. for a few months and the older kids scooted about and loved it!

look at this sweet babe. i am just obsessed with his face!

we also discovered that the jungle park now has a little free library. yay! another one to go and trade books at in the future. perth we love you... there is nowhere i would rather be.

anzac day 2018

anzac day means so much to me (and many other australians and new zealanders). it's the day that we remember those who fought (and still fight) to keep this wonderful country free.

we had an awesome ward activity at livvi's place in the morning (an amazing park in brabham right by dougs parents house. it's gated, made around natural landscapes... and it has a flying fox, which even has a seat with a harness for smaller or less able children)

our bishopric organised cooked breakfast, with bread, sausages, bacon, eggs... fruit and of course, anzac biscuits (because as i reminded them over and over, what is anzac day without the biscuits?!)

our little monkey enjoying his breakfast.

it was a great morning, spent with our ward family, remembering those who helped this country be what it is today ♥

park life

school holidays call for a lot of play time in all the amazing local parks, to keep both me and the kids sane haha. we live in the swan valley, which although has tiny blocks with barely any backyards for houses, has parks for daysssssss. most areas have a park within 600 metres of every house which makes it an even better place to live!

i will be completely and brutally honest... i hate school drop off and pick up. it's the worst. so i am enjoying every single minute of sleeping in and not having to have them at school at 8:35 every morning. long live school holidays!

aveley pirate park

just last year, a new park in aveley opened (this is not huge news, as there are hundreds of parks throughout ellenbrook/aveley) but this one was a park with a difference, as it is pirate themed and fully gated, making it safe for kids who have a tendency to do a runner... although this isn't an issue for my kids, i was still keen to check it out and see what it had to offer and then forgot to take pictures of the actual park because i am useless, but did snap this cute pic of madeline and her friend brooklyn as they played about and had a great time, however, you can check out someone elses pics in an online review here

it's a great park, with lots of soft areas to play on, foam whales, starfish, a plank to walk, seesaws, swings, a pirate flag on a pole and even a treasure chest! we will definitely be going back, it's so cute!

park life

i love the park across the road. we have been there at least once a day since we moved in and the kids are loving every single minute. it's so nice. out the front door, run across the road... and run to the park. the other day, while they ran and played and laughed and sang (well, madeline sang) i lay under a tree and just, for the first time in ages, just did nothing. other than watch them play, i did nothing.

after all the stress of moving, packing, unpacking, the endless phonecalls sorting things out, changing addresses for everything you can think of... it was nice to have some down time. our new house is lovely - and the park life is a beautiful added bonus.

the kids are loving it  and so am i.
