anxiety is normal

i have never been more comforted in my life than when i read this quote. simply for the fact that someone else posted it and first of all it was a reminder that anxiety is normal and i am not alone. i have crippling anxiety and a worldwide pandemic and uncertainty has certainly not helped the situation. there have been so many days when i have stressed and worried and sobbed over things that are out of my control and have triggered me but this made me feel so much better about it all. the fact that the gospel of jesus christ will remain unchanged is the most important thing of all and as we have been told time and time again, if we are prepared, we need not fear. i need to continue to simply do my best - and let the lord do the rest.

bitter cups

sometimes it's hard to take the bad with the good and right now it seems like things are getting too much... doug's mum is really struggling with her health and we are finding it difficult to keep up sometimes. she is in hospital long term and we have no idea when or if she will get better and be able to go home, but we are trying our hardest to remain positive and hang in there. it's especially hard for doug when he hasn't even been able to properly grieve his father with all this going on, but instead has to go to the hospital over and over and be the support his mother needs. it would be so easy to become bitter and focus on what is wrong.

among it all though, i am trying to remember what i have been taught over and over - to forget your own issues, find others to serve. i've been trying and i know it is working. our problems seem to fade away when we focus on others. not that they are going away, but they become easier to bear. i am so grateful for the wise words of prophets past, that are enabling us to make it through. ❤
