isaac hits the big 4-0

today the youngest of my big brothers hit the big 40 (which most of all is scary because it means it is my turn next!) and we went for lunch at this cute little restaurant called "our table" in bedford.

what an old guy lol. he was very good natured about his baby sister teasing him with a big as birthday badge and big 40 candles on his cake that i made. his absolute favourite thing is banoffee pie, so i made that and took it along to have as his birthday cake. you can see from this pic he was pleased as punch.

i also bought him a lego truck set, as in all our childhood years that was his instant go-to whenever we would play with lego. he loved it. hopefully he actually makes it.

i have been blessed beyond measure having big brothers to grow up with. many times i've been told i missed out by being the only girl and not having any sisters, but i don't think i have missed a thing. it's all i have ever known and i have loved every minute of it.

isaac and i fought as children, and were best friends as teenagers. we did everything together, shared friends and run amuck, resulting in many ridiculous photos like this one. as we have grown up, lots of things have changed, but one thing will never change, he was my very first best friend.

he is a classic car nut. loves his old holdens - and  funnily enough, even bought dougs older ute from us last year when doug got his new car, turning it into a country boy ute within weeks of the purchase.

we have laughed over the years about the fact that he doesn't talk a lot. you know if he says something it's worth listening to! he has always been the class clown and is so unbelievably witty with an amazing and quick comeback for every situation.

what can i say? we may not always see eye to eye (in fact we very rarely do!) but i love him madly and always will

he's become a great guy, an amazing dad - and still is the most immature person i have ever met

tactless as always, ready with a waiting hand to flip his next unsuspecting victim the bird.

happy big deal birthday isaac! i'll love you for always ❤

even when you refuse to take selfies with me!

20 years later

twenty years ago today i waited excitedly outside of the sydney temple with my brother isaac while my oldest brother jared and his wife donna were married for time and all eternity and i gained my first sister. what a wonderful day it was for us all. i honeslty can't believe it was that long ago, i was only 12 years old! but here we are twenty years later hauling out the photos...

here we have mum and i at the reception a few weeks later in wa (they honeymooned in nsw after their temple wedding) it was my first time as a bridesmaid and i was so excited to be a part of it. to this day i don't think donna has any idea just how special she made me feel by asking me to be her bridesmaid. i really felt like i had a sister that day... and have every day since.

congratulations on such a huge milestone jared & donna. i love you both ♥

aaron is 40

i've been so lucky to grow up in a household with 3 older brothers. there is one with whom I have a special bond, of a very similar sense of humour and quite similar looks haha! here's a few things i love about him in time for his 40th birthday!
in 2003 I decided to move to brisbane and found out the hard way, that i wasn't really ready to start a life all on my own. i needed someone to help me and really thought I would not make it. aaron came one night after i had called him in tears and was everything a big brother should be. he held me tight, comforted me and made sure i knew everything would be alright. he was the sunshine during my time of darkness and i will be forever grateful for having him close.
i remember meeting various friends of his at the ward we attended in brisbane and one girl being so shocked that I was 19 and not a little girl... she said the way aaron mentioned me in conversation she thought i was a "little sister" not just a younger one.
i have always been proud to introduce aaron to others as my brother. he is a wonderful person, good and kind, with impeccable manners. we share many features and in recent years people have been amused to learn who i am at church activities here in perth, they have thought i looked familiar, but couldn't place it, until of course they learned I was "aaron's sister", which i am still frequently known as.
i was asked on a date by a rather handsome young man, who i must admit, i rather wanted to deter. i thought telling him he would have to ask my brothers permission would put him off, but he wasn't put off so easily. he simply approached aaron quite confidently and asked if he could take me on a date. clearly my sibling telepathic powers were not working, as aaron said, "of course you can, but why are you asking me, go ask her!" this young man and i were married a few years later, so i guess i should be grateful!
aaron is a wonderful human being and i am so, so lucky to be his little sister.
happy birthday my brother! i love you! i always have and i always will.

happy birthday bro!

happy birthday to this ratbag brother of mine. the youngest of my older brothers, who i worshipped and followed around like a puppy as a child. he is one of the funniest, craziest and most laid back people i know, so fiercely loyal and ever caring. we have had our fair share of arguments and craziness over the years, but i love you isaac, like a fat kid loves cake and hope you had the best birthday ever!
