A night at the arcade dance

Wife of a stake Young Mens leader checking in. Tonight I got to hang out at a multi-stake arcade themed dance. Oh my goodness. I swear stake dances were never this good when I was a teenager. My mate Pippa turned up with her teens and we got to hang, so that added to the fun. Cameras may have improved but photos sure haven't. hahaha.

Awesome tunes with lights and smoke, pizza delivered and fairy floss machine. What else could you need? My kids were particularly annoyed to have been left out of this as they saw the decorations, all 1980s arcade style, much like their current favourite movie - Pixels.

The smoke was so thick at the end that we were a little worried it wasn't going to go down by church on the Sunday. Plus to be honest, accompanied with the fairy floss smell, it was like you were unintentionally vaping in the hallway where all the smoke was sticking.

Looks like the kids had a good time... that's all we were worried about! ❤

brightly beams stake dance

today madeline got to go to her first stake dance. by complete default. earlier this week doug asked me if there was any chance i would consider doing the food for their multi-stake dance to be held at the end of the week. not going to lie, i was like what the heck - multi stake? short notice? and i have no idea what you want? but on further info being provided, i found out it was a "brightly beams" theme with rainbow everything and i was so in.

so our menu consisted of:
coloured popcorn and skittle cups
watermelon and strawberry cups
mini smiths chips bags (cause they come in bright colours!)
m&m rainbow cookies
coloured iced donuts
oreos
mini cupcakes
and zooper doopers

plus water, juice boxes and canned soft drink in ice buckets

i wanted originally to place it out all neatly in lines and have it put all together with like items, but then once i had the tables set up ready to fill, i could just see it all in together like a giant rainbow grazing table and it worked! so well! it still gives me a little thrill seeing the pics all set up

especially when the girls decorating added snapped glow sticks all through it.

the decorations were so cute too. bright coloured christmas lights everywhere with rainbow balloon garlands on white backdrops for a photo corner.

it was actually the best night. way better than any stake dance i ever got to go to. super jealous of what the youth get these days. and the most amazing bit? i had to refill the zooper doopers over and over and over. we went through a hundred and twenty of them! those were some hot kids!

maddie had the time of her life too dancing with the kids from our ward that spied her in the corner with us and is already asking dad when he can sneak her into another one. she is growing up far to fast for my liking.
