hill-top!

i was lucky enough to get doug and i tickets to another hilltop show and it was amaaaaaazing. the guys always deliver with heaps of energy and one epic song after another. we had the best night and loved every minute, but not going to lie, my ears are still ringing.

they absolutely get the crowd into it and make sure every one is having a good time, which is one of the reason their tickets are worth every cent.

the only bad bit of the concert was when some nub a few rows in front of us set off a firework (no i am not kidding... seriously who does that!) and a girl by him was burnt by it - i have no idea where it ended up but i hope no one on that end was hurt! they got out of there the second they set it off, so i doubt security would have caught them, but oh my word did it freak us out!

hilltop hoods have released a lot of their albums with the adelaide symphony orchestra playing their backing tracks... and even toured with them. we were lucky to see their last show with them on hand, this one wasn't with the orchestra, but they did still have a couple of instruments supporting them which made their great show even better!

at one stage they had everyone turn their lights on during their song "through the dark" which was incredible, i was absolutely blown away at how much light there was in the arena!

such a good night!

the super super lucky one in all this was doug's sister who is visiting from america, she's always wanted to go to a hilltop concert and we ended up having a spare ticket as our friend couldn't make it! she was super chuffed and we loved having her with us. family night out!

the best day with nanna

school holidays aren't complete without a visit to nanna's house and today was the day! we met in york for a rummage at the york salvation army jumble sale (in my humble (educated haha) opinion, still the best opshop in wa with the best prices. i have found soooo many good things there over the years. then we hit up some more opshops in northam, (can't wait to show off what i found in a future post, two awesome prints for alex's room and a huge map of the paris metro system for our wall!) before heading home to mums place via the clackline "post office" in the old railway carriage.

i was in heaven, as they have a little free library of sorts there now... a community book exchange in an old telephone booth. we left some books and took some, both the kids and i were thrilled. we love finding new ones wherever we go.

maddie showcasing her new wedges from york (meant to be hers for sure, mum found them a few weeks ago and didn't buy them, but when we went back today - still there! that never happens!) and definitely feeling a bit sassy today. i love to write memories so when the kids read back on these one day we can have a laugh. todays maddie gem: we were at the park in northam and a girl was being awful to her, rude to joseph and then told her right to her face that she was ugly! i was having none of it and when mum told her to go and play again and that she would stand with her, i said no, i have a better way of dealing with this. we got back in the car and drove out - and me being the awful mother that i am (and a terrible example!) let her flip the girl the bird. she was so proud of herself and even though it was the worst idea ever and so not the solution, it made her feel better and the girl was mortified. case closed, points to madeline. defend yourself girl, don't let anyone push you around 😆 and what better place to do it than from the safety of your car.

today was the best day.

birthday love

another birthday, another year older... and now i am 33! i had an awesome day being spoiled by people i love and receiving some incredible gifts. doug got me tickets to the stage production of singin' in the rain, mum and dad kindly had my wedding rings sized for me... some beautiful earrings and a ring from dougs parents and i must confess, my favourite gift arrived in the hands of my eldest niece laura, a plate of handmade star shaped, green coloured icing sugar cookies. so so cute and delicious. i was blown away at the thought that had gone into them, i love green and stars, and of course cookies!)

aniwa and myron also dropped past with this beautiful bracelet with a heart shaped tree charm attached. such a sweet gift from people who obviously know me so well! and the coolest bit? they were in a gift box with a strand of flower lights which were lit up and waiting when i opened the box. what a surprise that was!

being 33 looks like it's going to be pretty good. ♥
