a while back, a friend from church kindly gifted me a bunch of strawberry seedlings, ready to grow. over the past months, i have watered them and looked after them (a first for me, i have never really been into gardening...) and lo and behold i not only kept them alive, but they made it to the point that they were big enough to transplant into the hanging gardens in our backyard.
mum helped me mix the soil up (with some additions so that they might actually flourish) and get it all ready and then we planted them into the planters. i'm ashamed to admit that i actually really enjoyed myself and now want to plant all kinds of other things in my backyard... someone stop me!
i'm excited to see if they actually take off and provide us with some strawberries at some stage. the kids and i would love it. fingers crossed!
