kalamunda markets

saturday found us enjoying a family day out at the kalamunda markets with the pinkers. i am fairly certain the last time i went to the markets i was pregnant with madeline, so only 9 years ago... haha. i love wandering in and out of the stalls and looking at all the gorgeous handmade items. there is so much there!

alex amazingly didn't do too badly sitting in the pram for a long time and smiled away as we chatted to him and wheeled him through the crowds.

we ate lunch perched in shopping trolleys, aunty dom is a smart cookie... if they are in a trolley, "it makes it harder from them to run away, plus it puts them at a good height." please note that they are pictured in a "very important" phone conversation on her iphone and his nokia 3310 that doug found while cleaning out a drawer. he loves it and takes it here, there and everywhere, stashed in his shorts pocket. what a crack up. mum! your phone is ringing. i'm calling you!

i love listening to them laugh and there was a lot of it today!

cause when we hang out with the pinkers (favourite aunty pictured right here... haha) we always have a good time.

thanks for a great day kalamunda!

swan settlers market

today we finally checked out the swan settlers market off great northern highway in herne hill, (124 lennard st, turn at lamonts) and oh is it cute! it's built in the old produce building in the historic woodbridge estate and is so gorgeous inside. i loved it so much, as did my kids who excitedly told me all about the time they had been there before. i was so confused, until they said that nanna took them there... apparently while doug and i were in melbourne for letitia's wedding last year.

mine and madeline's favourite thing was the petting zoo. the lovely man that owned it sat and chatted with the two of us while we held rabbits and guinea pigs for quite some time, she was in heaven! she has been asking doug and i non-stop for either one for months... so i hoping it's out of her system now, because we are notttt getting one.

seriously though, look how happy it made her!

they were pretty fun to cuddle though, not going to lie!

there was some amazing food places there... including a fairy floss place, which the kids managed to convince poppy to buy them and a kiwi food store that we hit up for lunch, which happens to be owned by one of the girls i know from maddie's school. we've become quite friendly over the last couple of years and it was great to see her there... and the boys loved their lunch.

the markets are still small at this stage, but there is already a lot to look at... with crystal, crafts, produce and vintage finds. we'll definitely be back!

sia's kitchen

its' hard to find good samoan food in perth, which i think sometimes makes my husband a little sad. so, we were stoked to find out that a lady from church had opened a samoan food store at the wanneroo markets and decided to check it on mondays public holiday.

my very happy husband had a plate packed with a little bit of almost everything they had on offer, while the kids and i had chop suey and rice, with coconut buns for dessert. so so yum. looks like we will be heading back here more often. go and try sia's kitchen in the courtyard at the wanneroo markets. even if you're not samoan (or married to one!) it's worth a try.

also... these kids are the cutest. that is all ♥
