gidge show

it's our favourite day of the year! we love love love the gidgegannup show and try to get there each year if we can, so yesterday we packed up all our things and set off early for a day of fun.

we love their show because it has all the fun and attractions of the larger shows... sideshow alley, the displays and entries of animals, crafts etc, but the small town country feel. we even watched horses being shod! joseph was apparently very intrigued by the cows

and absolutely loooooved his time on the rides.

he thought he was the coolest person ever when he got to drive the train!

and he and madeline rode this spinning one together (pass!)

madeline tried her hand at the sideshow alley games

and found herself this magical face painter!

as you can see, she did a great job and madeline was very pleased with the results

what a cutie!

she was definitely living her best life - next thing i knew she had found herself a guinea pig to cuddle

and joseph even wanted to pat it too, which is unusual, he normally shies away from animals.

we had a wonderful family day out. i would 100% recommend country show days. they are the best - never too crowded and just as much fun as the city ones, if not more.

even alex enjoyed himself as he was pushed about in his pram by all of us.

the kids even managed to get a show bag out of us... to be honest, i don't mind buying them when they have things they'll use and keep in them instead of being full of lollies. haha. did i just become my mother?

thanks again for a wonderful day gidgegannup. we very much hope to see you again next year!

gidgegannup show 2015

we went off to the gidgegannup show again this year and had a great time! madeline had the time of her life, going on 3 different rides (one of them twice...) and looking at everything around her. joseph was quite happy to chill in the pram and eat watermelon for lunch as we walked around taking it all in.

we have been the last few years in a row and have been so pleased with the show... it's like a small scale version of the perth royal show, (without the crazy prices), without the crowds because it's country enough, with some smaller rides, exhibits, livestock to look at, petty zoos, displays and lots of stalls to browse. plus, some great food and all the show bags! we didn't get a show bag this year but we still had a great time.

our babes chilling at the show...

and what's a show without icecream?

the funniest bit? my feet when we got home. i had been wearing my havaianas and because most of the show is on the oval and the neighbouring paddocks, my feet were filthy! we had a great day though and will definitely be back again next year!

gidgegannup show

we had a family fun day today at the gidgegannup show! gidgegannup is a small town about 45 mins from perth, heading towards toodyay. each year they have a small agricultural show, we went last year and decided to go again this time. jen and her mum had a stall for their ma & me shop, which was super cute, they sold lots of their cute handmade things, including 6 pairs of earrings to me!

joseph was happy to be in his car seat and heading off somewhere - and maddie was so excited to know there would be stalls and animals and rides and aunty jen!
she insisted on wearing my sunglasses in the car and chatted away to us all the way there about everything she was going to do. she is so funny!

madeline had a turn on one of the kiddy rides, "the lost temple" which was a big bouncy castle with egyptian style themes throughout and a large inflated slide. unfortunately she didn't work out the slide until their turn was almost up, but she got to go down it twice much to her glee.

she is a huge fan of the emperors new groove, the disney movie about the emperor that gets turned into a llama and his adventures that follow... so she was so excited to see these llamas (um they're actually alpacas maddie...) and watch them sauntering about in their enclosure. they are the cutest animals!

we also took advantage of the free face painting on offer and madeline had her face done as a fairy. we had the most hilarious conversation in the bathroom a few minutes later... "mum i can't go to the toilet, because fairies don't wee." "well what do they do then? how do they get rid of the water they drink? do they fling it off their wings into the garden and it becomes dew in the mornings?" big sigh and no further comments from madeline, she just looked at me like i was stupid as she flushed. oh she's hysterical, a threenager alright.

i love family days, they are the best! ♥
